...WINTRY-LIKE CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS
OF THE EAST TENNESSEE MOUNTAINS TONIGHT AND THURSDAY...

A COLD FRONT WILL USHER IN UNSEASONABLY COLD AIR INTO THE REGION
TONIGHT AND THURSDAY...AS AN UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVES
SOUTH INTO THE AREA. THIS ACTIVITY WILL BEGIN AS LIGHT TO MODERATE
RAIN SHOWERS ACROSS THE REGION THIS AFTERNOON...WHICH SHOULD
GENERALLY COME TO AN END BY LATE THIS EVENING.

HOWEVER...SOME LINGERING SHOWER ACTIVITY WILL PERSIST ALONG THE
MOUNTAINS OVERNIGHT. TEMPERATURES WILL BE COLD ENOUGH ACROSS THE
HIGHEST ELEVATIONS...GENERALLY AT OR ABOVE 4500 FEET...FOR THESE
RAIN SHOWERS TO MIX WITH OR CHANGE TO SNOW. SOME LOCALIZED SNOW
ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE BY THURSDAY MORNING.

AREAS MOST AT RISK OF SEEING SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE ACROSS THE
HIGHEST ELEVATIONS OF THE GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS AND ROANE MOUNTAIN.
ANYONE VENTURING ACROSS THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS...SUCH AS HIKERS OR
PERSONS TRAVELING ACROSS HIGHWAY 441...SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR
WINTRY-LIKE CONDITIONS BEGINNING LATER THIS EVENING...AND LASTING
INTO THE DAY ON THURSDAY.
