Lightning strike hits Knoxville 911 call center

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A lightning strike made changes to the work routine for emergency responders in Knoxville Tuesday.

When storms came into the area, a lightning strike hit the 911 center.

The Knoxville Fire Department is using portable radios to communicate with other responders. However, 9-1-1 calls will still go through call takers and dispatched as normal.
