OAK RIDGE (WATE) – Three people were found dead at a home on Oak Lane in North Oak Ridge Thursday of gunshot wounds.
Oak Ridge Police Department said officers were called to perform a welfare check at around 8:03 a.m. Thursday morning after a sister called about a loved one. When officers arrived, there was no answer at the door.
Officers saw a potential victim through the window. They called for more investigators to come to the scene and then they entered the home. Once inside, officers found a woman who was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers began searching and found two other people dead, a man and a woman.
Each of the three victims had suffered a single gunshot wound. The victims have been identified as Michael Deuschle, 49; Tessa Deuschle, 43; and Chelsea Kessel, 24.
Police believe it is a possibility Michael Deuschle shot the two women before turning the gun on himself. Police think Michael and Tessa Deuschle were in a relationship. One neighbor confirmed they were husband and wife. Oak Ridge Police Chief James Akagi said the two women are mother and daughter.
Detectives with the Oak Ridge Police Department said they do not believe there are any additional victims and there is no danger to the community. They are continuing to investigate and do not expect to release any additional information Thursday.
Neighbors were in disbelief when they walked outside to see their neighborhood full of police. Gary Vickery has never seen anything like this during his 10 years living here.
“Shocked that something like this this close to where you lived has happened,” said Vickery.
One neighbor on this street told WATE 6 On Your Side the daughter had special needs and needed 24-hour care.
“Don’t know what goes on in people’s lives and what challenges they face,” said Vickery.
A sister came to the scene after investigators left. Her boyfriend said the two women were her mother and sister. He said she stopped by the house before Thursday morning to check on the family. He said she believed all three of them were sleeping. Shortly after that visit, he said she found out they were dead.
