Scott County man captured in Oklahoma, wanted for child sex crimes

HUNTSVILLE (WATE) – A Scott County man was captured in Oklahoma after refusing to turn himself in to Tennessee law enforcement.

Investigators say Christopher Nichol Cox has several felony warrants for his arrest and is wanted for sex crimes against children.

He was last seen in Huntsville, Tennessee, on Thursday.

Cox was charged with sexual battery and assault in Scott County in 1999, but was only convicted on the assault charge. He was sentenced to two years supervised probation.

In 2011, he was charged with one count of burglary. He was given four years with the Tennessee Department of Correction.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s records, Cox’s other offenses include counts of child support attachment, theft, burglary, malicious mischief, phone harassment, criminal trespassing, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and violation of probation.
