Union County school bus involved in crash; no students on board

MAYNARDVILLE (WATE) – Union County Schools said no students were on board during an accident involving a school bus and a van.

Dr. Jimmy Carter, Director of Union County Schools, said the bus driver and people in the van were transported to a Knoxville hospital. The accident was reported at around 2:30 p.m. at Ailor Gap Road and Highway 33, which is about 1.5 miles from Union County High School.

Carter said the bus driver says she was attempting to make a left-hand turn on green and was hit by the van. Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating.
