KNOXVILLE (WATE) – After a vertical crack along a key structural point of the bridge, the city of Knoxville has decided to close a portion of Sutherland Avenue.
The city said a portion of Sutherland Avenue between MIddlebrook Pike and Concord Street will be closed to westbound traffic for the next 120 days for repairs. Throughout the duration of the project, westbound traffic will be detoured from Sutherland Avenue right onto Ailor Avenue then left on North Concord Street back to Sutherland Avenue. Eastbound traffic will be maintained with intermittent traffic shifts.
The $754,000 bridge repair and resurfacing project is being performed by Southern Constructors, Inc.
