CHATTANOOGA (WATE) – The Chattanooga Police Department said one of their officers was shot several times and they are searching for the suspect investigators believe was responsible.
The shooting happened a little after 9 a.m. at 1005 Mission Avenue, near Glenwood Drive, according to police. Police told WTVC the officer was shot three times, but is expected to be okay.
Officers said the suspect could be armed and dangerous. The suspect is described as a black male, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and thin. He was last seen wearing a dark hoodie with large lettering.
Police have set up a staging area at North Chamberlain Avenue at Wilson. Six schools are on lockdown during the search for the suspect.
