ALCOA (WATE) – A City of Alcoa line worker was killed Monday night after he was hit by a falling tree while working in the Hughes Loop area.

Brian Huffstetler, 29, was working as part of a “trouble crew” to help restore electric service in the Hughes Loop Road area of Blount County. He was climbing a utility pole at the time when he was struck by the fallen tree.

Huffstetler was rushed to Blount Memorial Hospital by Rural/Metro. He died a short time later of what officials say was blunt force trauma. The incident remains under investigation.
