KNOXVILLE (WATE) – East Tennessee is celebrating the holidays! There are many events to see Christmas tree lightings, eat gingerbread and more.

Regal Celebration of Lights

The event will take place from  5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Market Square. There will be live music,caroling, marshmallow roasting, sparking lights, train rides, photos with Santa, hot cocoa and more.

The highlight of the event will be the lighting of the 42-foot-tall Christmas tree in Krutch Park.

All Weekend

Christmas Lantern Express

The vintage steam engine will take passengers through the city’s countryside during the holiday season. Passengers can drink hot chocolate and eat gingerbread men before departure at the depot. There will be readings of “The Christmas Lantern” by local celebrities and a visit from Santa. The trip is 90 minutes to 2 hours.

Tickets are $26.60 for adults, $25.50 for adults older 55-years-old and up, $15.50 for children between the ages of 3 to 12, $1.50 for toddlers and free for infants. Tickets may be purchased online or by calling 865-524-9411.

Fantasy of Trees 

The event benefits the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. Attendees can see a forest of Christmas trees, shop from vendors, enter a raffle, visit the Gingerbread Village, meet Santa and more. The event is at the Knoxville Convention Center. For more information, visit the event’s website.

Holidays on Ice

The event is presented by Home Federal Bank begins on Friday, November 25, and runs through January 8. The rink is open seven days a week during this time admission for adults is $10 and for children is $7. Season passes are $45 and $30 respectively. Admission includes skate rental.

Friday

WDVX Holiday Ho-Ho Hoedown

The event will be from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m in Market Square. EmiSunshine, The Pinklets and Will Carter will perform. There will be appearances by Peppermint Panda and Jolly old Freddy Smith and his Christmas Chicken.

Big Smo

The country music rapper will be performing at Cotton Eyed Joe’s. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the concert begins after 9 p.m. Tickets start at $15. Attendees 18-years-old to 20-years-old will receive an additional door charge.

Winterfest Tree Lighting with Paula Deen

The event at The Island in Pigeon Forge will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be live entertainment, photos with Santa and an appearance by celebrity chef Paula Deen.

Small Town Christmas in Downtown Sweetwater

The event will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be horse and buggy rides, hay rides, shopping, marshmallow roasts, lights, live entertainment and more. There will be photos with Santa and characters from “Frozen.”

Sunday

Classical Christmas

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Bijou Theatre. The Pellissippi State Variations Choir will also perform. Tihe event starts at 2:30 p.m. and tickets may be purchased online or by calling the box office at 865-291-3310.
