1 injured, 3 in custody after Oak Ridge shooting

OAK RIDGE (WATE) – The Oak Ridge Police Department said one person was shot during an incident in the Highland avenue area.

Nicholas Strickland, 25, of Oak Ridge, Matthew A. Mashburn, 27, of Knox County and Nicole Brewer, 19, of Oak Ridge were charged with especially aggravated assault and conspiracy in connection with the shooting.

The victim of the shooting is male, but his name has not been released. He Was taken to UT Medical Center for further treatment and is listed in stable condition.

Police said they responded to 104 E. Holston Lane at 12:58 p.m. Investigators said they determined the suspecs in the shooting ran away from the residence and may still be in the area.

A containment perimeter was established around the area, according to police. They said officers searched the area for the suspect. At around 2:09 p.m., two persons, one of which is believed to be a suspect in the shooting, were arrested and transported to Oak Ridge Police Department Headquarters, according to police.

During the incident, police said Oak Ridge High School was put on lockdown by Oak Ridge School. After the suspects were in custody, the lockdown was lifted.
