COLDSPRING, Texas (WATE) – Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said a man that has been on their Top 10 Most Wanted List since November 19, 2003 was captured Saturday in Texas.

TBI said Jose Alberto Rendo, 67, was wanted by TBI and Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office on a felony to appear warrant. They said he was awaiting trial on a charge of aggravated sexual battery of a child under the age of 13.

Rendo was captured by deputies with the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office in Texas, according to TBI. Agents said Rendon had been using the identity of his brother, Guadalupe Vella Rendon, and was staying with a family in Coldspring, Texas.

However, when Rendon was injured, he was positively identified as Jose, not Guandalupe, by family members. Special agents said they were contacted and coordinated with the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office to have Rendon arrested.

Deputies took Rendon into custody Saturday evening and his identity was positively confirmed through fingerprints, according to TBI. He is currently being held without bond in the San Jacinto County Jail in Texas
