KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Knoxville Urban League hosted a free health forum, Saturday morning, addressing some of the most common silent killers in America.
The event was called “Silent Killers – Unrecognized Health Concerns.” It featured Dr. Jonathan Newsome, Associate Professor of Pharmacy at South College. He discussed lifestyle strategies for preventing diabetes and heart disease, particularly among minority populations.
In addition to Dr. Newsome’s presentation, health screenings and information on a variety of health-related topics were available, including: nutrition, body mass index, tobacco cessation, stress management, hypertension, diabetes management and bone density.
