Escaped Jefferson County inmate in custody

DANDRIDGE, Tenn. (WATE) – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said an inmate that escaped from the Jefferson County Detention Center is in custody.

Jefferson County Sheriff Bud McCoig said that Jeremy Archer was found near Elkins Road, near Midway Road, at around noon. He said Archer now faces escape charges and two people in Knox County will also face charges for harboring a fugitive.

Deputies said Archer escaped while he was being escorted to the bathroom. They said he ran out of an open door and dashed over a fence. He was serving time for violating probation on previous burglary charges.
