NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was arrested and charged with robbing a south Nashville taco truck at gunpoint Thursday night.
It happened at a truck parked at a gas station near Murfreesboro Road and Spence Lane around 9 p.m.
Metro police reported 32-year-old Romero Wright came up the back steps of the truck, showed the owner a silver handgun and said “give me your food.”
According to an affidavit, the owner told Wright to come in the truck and take money from the register.
When he entered the truck, the owner grabbed the gun from him and they fought over the weapon, according to police.
Wright then allegedly ran from the truck, into the parking lot of a nearby Waffle House, while the taco truck owner shot the gun into the ground, telling Wright to stop, according to arrest warrants.
Wright was taken into custody by police once officers arrived at the scene.
Metro police reported a records check of the weapon revealed it was stolen from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Wright was booked into the Metro jail and charged with theft and aggravated robbery. His bond was set at $30,000.
