KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Every year 614,348 people die from heart disease and 76,488 die from diabetes, according to the CDC.
A Knoxville health forum is focusing on addressing “silent killers” or unrecognized health concerns such as lifestyle, diabetes and heart disease. Health screenings will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Knoxville Urban Leagues headquarters, located at 1514 East 5th Avenue. Dr. Jonathan Newsome will speak at 10:30 a.m.
Organizers of the forum said there will be information and health screening booths for nutrition, BMI, tobacco, stress management, diabetes and hypertension. The forum is supported by Knoxville Area Urban League, Cherokee Health Systems, UT College of Nursing, Burlington Resident Association and Siddiqi Charitable Foundation.
