MARYVILLE (WATE) – Owners of the Butterfly Gap Retreat resort in Blount County say they’re shutting down at the end of the year and hope someone will come along to carry on their vision for the beautiful property.
The bed and breakfast and wedding venue is situated just outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park off the Parkway in Blount County.

The resort posted on Facebook last week that one of the owners of the family-run business has been diagnosed with cancer. They hope someone will want to keep Butterfly Gap going and possibly operate it as a children’s camp or corporate retreat. If not, the family will subdivide the resort, which includes hundreds of acres and several guest houses.
