Tennessee’s win not enough for AP, Coaches polls

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A massive win over Tennessee Tech was not enough to push the Volunteers back into the Top 25 of the AP or Amway Coaches polls this week, but that doesn’t mean the Volunteers don’t have a chance at finding the top spot in the East.

Tennessee’s fate lies mostly in the hands of Florida. After Arkansas pulled off an upset, defeating the Gators Saturday, Tennessee is one step closer to winning the East. They still have to win every game from here on out and Florida still has to lose another conference game. The Vols play South Carolina this weekend and LSU the following week.

Tennessee currently sits fifth in the East, but they have three conference games to play. Winning all three would mean the Vols beat Kentucky along the way, putting them at 5-3 in the conference. Combine that with a Florida loss in one of their next two games and the University of Tennessee would come out on top in the tie-breaker.
