Students safe after Knox County school bus accident

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Knox County Sheriff’s Office said no one was injured in a crash involving a Knox County school bus.

Deputies said at 8:18 a.m. the bus driver for bus #108 radioed dispatch about an accident with injury on Tazewell Pike and Old Tazewell Pike. Knox County Schools said four Gibbs High School students were on the bus at the time, but were not injured. Three of the students were taken by a second bus to school and one student was picked-up by a parent.

image2According to the initial investigation, Knox County Sheriff’s Office said a blue Hyundai traveling northeast on Tazewell Pike crossed lanes and struck the bus in the front left corner panel. The driver was cited for failure to maintain lane of travel.
