SEVIERVILLE (WATE) – A Sevier County High School student was arrested Thursday morning after police said he posted a threatening message on social media about a shooting at the school.
The Sevierville Police Department says the student is charged with disorderly conduct. School resource officers became aware of the message Wednesday morning. The student was questioned and released into his parents’ custody.
After consulting with the district attorney general’s office, police decided to press charges and obtained an arrest warrant.
The boy was taken to the juvenile detention facility and later released into his parents’ custody.
