KNOXVILLE (WATE) – What may be more amazing than the Chicago Cubs’ historic win is that a fan called the game in 2014.
A user who tweets under the handle @RaysFanGio pinned a two-year-old post to the top of his feed. As the game went into the 9th inning with the teams locked up in a 6-to-6 tie, the 2014 tweet started going viral, and has now been retweeted more than 150,000 times.
The prophecy that the Cubs and Indians would tie in extra innings and then the world would end looked scarily on-point as a rain delay was called at the end of the 9th inning. Some fans joked they were starting to prep for the apocalypse.
The action quickly got back underway and the Cubs took a two-run lead in the top of the 10th inning on their way to a historic victory, marking their first title since 1908. The final score was 8 to 7.
@RaysFanGio says he made the prediction the day Joe Maddon was hired. While the world seems to be intact, one thing is for sure, @RaysFanGio may need to buy a lottery ticket!
