MEMPHIS (WATE) – First Tennessee is warning customers that some transactions may post late.
Kim Cherry with First Tennessee said several customers have asked if the banking issues were due to a cyber attack. She wanted to stress that the issues were not due to an attack and were a result of a hardware computer failure. She said technicians have fixed the hardware issue, but now their system is trying to catch up on transactions.
“It’s just like if your computer hardware fails at home, the computer has to recover all of the data,” said Cherry. “We’ve already started to post transactions and we expect all deposits to be done by the end of the day.”
Cherry said virtually all withdrawals should be done posting by Wednesday. First Tennessee said they are waiving any fees caused by the delay and keeping financial centers open until 6:00 p.m. Tuesday to help customers.
“We know this is important and we’re so sorry for the delays,” said Cherry. “We have people working as hard as possible to get this resolved.”
Online banking should be updated Tuesday night, according to Cherry. She said anyone with issues or questions can call 1-800=382-5465 for more information.
