KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Three people were arrested after a pursuit Tuesday afternoon in North Knox County.
Amy Katherine Foust, 30; her mother who has not been identified; and Jeffrey Hayes Caldwell, 39, were all taken into custody. Charges are pending.
A vehicle stolen from Dollar General on Raccoon Valley Road last week was spotted around 11 a.m. Tuesday. Deputies tried to stop the vehicle in the IGA parking lot on Tazewell Pike, but the suspects sped off.
After a short pursuit, the suspects abandoned the vehicle in a field on Petree Lane. Foust and her mother were taken into custody on the scene, but Caldwell ran off.
Officers, including K9s and a helicopter, searched for Caldwell until he was taken into custody around 3:15 p.m. in the woods on Emroy Road.
Hayes has a criminal history that includes possession of drug paraphernalia; simple possession; theft; theft of property; worthless check; criminal impersonation; driving while license canceled, suspended, or revoked; and underage consumption. Foust has a criminal history in Knox County that includes attempted evading arrest, theft, theft of property, criminal impersonation, possession of drug paraphernalia, multiple traffic offenses, criminal trespass, robbery, evading arrest, and assault.
The incident led to a brief lockdown at Gibbs High and Elementary schools as a precaution.
