KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The University of Tennessee Police Department issued a public safety notice Monday about two on-campus rapes over the weekend.
One happened sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning. No suspect information was provided and the female students decided not to file a police report. Resources were provided for her.
The other was reported on Sunday around midnight. The victim said a non-stranger male raped her in her residence hall. The incident was forwarded to UTPD Investigations and resources were provided to her.
UT police advise to report any and all suspicious activity to police as soon as you are aware of it. You can download the Guardian app and use the tip feature to speak with UTPD. They also say 75 to 80 percent of sexual assaults are committed by a non-stranger, classmate, friend, partner or ex-partner.
