KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Knoxville Police Department is investigating a shooting at the Grove Apartments in Knoxville, early Saturday morning.

When officers arrived on the scene, they located a man, Andrew Fox, lying on the living room floor suffering from a serious gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to UT Medical Center where he is being treated for a potentially life-threatening injury.

According to the preliminary investigation, the homeowner, David Weaver was waiting for officers to arrive outside the apartment. He says he was awoken by loud banging on the front door and threats from an unknown male saying he would be harmed or killed if he was not allowed inside the apartment.

Police say Weaver armed himself with a shotgun for his own safety. As Weaver enters the living room, he observed the suspect entering his apartment through the sliding glass door. Weaver fired one time striking Fox in the abdomen. It was determined that Fox lived in the same apartment complex.

At this time, Fox is listed in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
