Harriman woman arrested, charged with manslaughter in boyfriend’s death

COOKEVILLE (WATE) – Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, working alongside authorities from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, have arrested and charged a Harriman woman accused in connection to the death of her boyfriend.

Tonya Baughman, of Harriman, was arrested and charged with the death of Ellis Hamby, Jr., after Morgan County deputies found his body inside a home he and Baughman shared.

At the time of this release, autopsy results were pending, though preliminary information indicated Hamby died from gunshot wounds. During the course of the investigation, authorities developed information that led to Baughman as the individual responsible for Hamby’s death.

On Saturday, investigators arrested and charged Baughman with one count of Voluntary Manslaughter and booked her into the Morgan County Jail, where she was later released on her own recognizance.
