KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Second Harvest Food Bank teamed up with United Healthcare on Saturday to provide a free health clinic and food pantry in Knoxville.

The Gathering Church hosted the event. Nurses and doctors from across the state offered free children’s wellness physicals, adult diabetes screenings and blood pressure checks. Families in need were also able to visit the clinic’s free mobile food pantry.

United Healthcare kicked off the event by donating $50,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank, which helps at-risk families in 18 East Tennessee counties. They say one in six people in East Tennessee lives in poverty and has a tough time meeting basic needs.
