KNXOVILLE (WATE) – “Ask the animals, and they will teach you.”
Job 12:7 rang true for Knoxville writer Tom Baker. Baker is a University of Tennessee grad who has worked in entertainment, radio and television of over 35 years.
In 2011, Baker said he was going through a difficult time. He said his business was in trouble, he owed a lot of money and he felt hopeless.
“I lost 30 pounds in the process due to stress,” said Baker. “I just put myself in this big dark hole with a feeling of failure. I was disengaged with my family.”
Baker says his wife was a rock, but he also found help through his dog. In his book “One Dog’s Faith: How My Dog Helped Me Trust in God and Overcome Chronic Worrying” Baker asks if dogs have a higher purpose than just being great companions.
“I believe that dogs were put on this earth by the Creator to be examples and to teach us things and that’s what this book is about,” said Baker. “It talks about faith, life and worry through the eyes of a dog”
Baker, who owns four rescue dogs, wrote the book from his dog Mango’s perspective. The book was published on October 5, 2016.
