KNOXVILLE (WATE) – It was a sold out show at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium as hundreds of kids were treated Friday to an hour long concert put on by the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra’s young people’s concerts.
The one hour concert was put on exclusively for third through fifth graders in an effort to introduce them to the symphony. The event also featured exciting visual lighting, stories from guest artists and unique costumes.
“We really put a lot of pride in putting these programs together, so it will be something that speaks to them and helps them to be interested in classical music for the rest of their life,” said Jennifer Harrell, Knoxville Symphony’s Orchestra’s Director of Education.
Harrell said the young people’s concert gives many kids an opportunity to hear live classical music for the first time.
