MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – A former Middle Tennessee State University football player has been arrested by Murfreesboro police in connection to two armed robberies Thursday morning.
Officers responded to the 1300 block of Hazelwood just before 6 a.m. in response to an armed robbery.
In a police report, Murfreesboro police said the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Alexandro Antoine, approached a woman and demanded her money and phone.
The victim did as he asked and Antoine left the area.
Later at 9:38 a.m., officers responded to the 2100 block of Old Fort Pkwy. in reference to another armed robbery of an individual.
The victim complied with Antoine’s demands but followed him and notified police of his location.
Murfreesboro police told WKRN the victim then barricaded him with her car to make sure he did not get away from the scene before officers arrived.
Antoine was taken into custody and booked into the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.
He is charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and theft.
MTSU spokesman Andrew Oppmann confirmed to WKRN that Antoine was a former player at the school but graduated in December 2015.
His bond is set at $36,000.
