KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Some young students at an East Knoxville school took a stand Friday against drugs in their neighborhood.
Green Magnet Academy celebrated Red Ribbon Week with their inaugural Steam Rolling Over Drugs march. Fourth and fifth graders marched from their school to Vine Magnet Middle School to hold a parade together. The event was all about encouraging kids to grow up and say no to drugs.
“I grew up in this community and I can tall you there’s some type of negative influence with people selling drugs and they’re sometimes exposed to those things. It’s better to catch them while they’re young so they can hopefully stop it,” said fourth grade teacher Kiaunn Brown.
Green Magnet students have been learning about anti-drug education all week.
