KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A Knoxville man was arrested Wednesday night on attempted murder charges after a woman said he tried to run her off the road.
Mitchell Paul Conard, 38, was taken into custody around 7:10 p.m. at his home on Rouse Lane. He was charged with attempted second degree murder and reckless endangerment after an investigation by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Family Crisis Unit.
Arrest records say on Friday, October 21, just after noon, the victim was driving west on E. Beaver Creek Drive with her two children in the car when she saw Conard going east. She said Conard drove into her lane of travel, causing her to run off the right side of the road to avoid a head-on collision.
The victim said Conard kept driving. She said she feared for her and her children’s lives because she had a prior history with Conard during which time he threatened to kill her.
Conard has a criminal history that includes public intoxication, evading arrest, traffic offenses, robbery and aggravated assault. He is being held on $125,000 bond.
