POWELL (WATE) – The Knox County Sheriff’s Office believes two robberies in the area are connected. The robberies may have the same suspect.
An armed robbery happened at Rocky Top Market Wednesday morning at 308 East Emory Road in Powell around 4:17 a.m. The suspect demanded money and said he had gun. However, the employee took out a gun and shot at the suspect. It is not known if the suspect was hit. The suspect fled in an unknown vehicle.
On Tuesday, a Dollar General was robbed around 9:43 p.m. at 1923 East Raccoon Valley Road. The suspect threatened the cashier that he had a gun and demanded money. However, he never showed the weapon. Investigators say the suspect fled on foot with an unknown amount of money.
The suspect is believed to be between 5-feet-10 inches and 6-feet, weighs around 250-270 pounds and has a beard. He was last seen wearing a black hat, blue sweatshirt, grew sweatpants and white tennis shoes.
