KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A father and son from Chattanooga who were duped by counterfeit tickets now have the chance to watch the Vols in action thanks to the kindness of a stranger.

Chad Wilson and his son Reid traveled from Chattanooga to Neyland Stadium to watch the Vols play Alabama on October 15. Once they got there, they found out their tickets were fake. The UT ticket office reported more than 300 counterfeit tickets were collected at the game, more than any game at Neyland Stadium ever.

Wilson and his son were heartbroken, but thanks to someone who heard their story, they got four tickets to a UT game of their choice.

“The biggest thing, you know, living in this area, the Volunteer state, people reach out to alumni, people wanting to go to something like this. And that’s not why we did this. We wanted to get the word across, and it just happened like this and we’re honored,” said Wilson.

Wilson and his son say they plan to go to the Kentucky game on November 12.
