Powell mosquito spraying postponed

Knox County Health Department trucks spray for mosquitos

POWELL (WATE) – Follow-up mosquito spraying in Powell originally planned for Thursday night has been postponed one week due to rain and wind in the weather forecast.

The Knox County Health Department says weather conditions like rain, high winds and temperatures near or below 55 degrees can make the spray less effective. The spraying is now scheduled for Thursday, October 27, between 9 p.m. and midnight in the West Emory Road area. The Rocky Hill area is scheduled for a follow-up spray that same night.

Signs will be posted in the areas and people are asked to stay indoors and keep their pets inside or in a backyard. The health department only sprays areas where mosquitoes test positive for West Nile Virus.
