KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A Knoxville group is holding a 5K run to help benefit construction and upkeep of the new Veterans Park at Sharps Ridge and also kicks off Community Veterans Week in the city.

The inaugural Veterans Heritage Ridge Run is on November 5 at 9 a.m. The cost to register is currently $30.

The race will begin at Lincoln Park Technology Trade School, 535 Chickamauga Avenue, and proceeds in a loop on the hiking trails on Sharps Ridge. The course is made up of well-marked trails through wooded and hilly terrain. If you’re not up to a 5K, there will also be a less challenging one mile fun walk.

The group is also seeking volunteers. Anyone interested should email ridgerunknoxville@gmail.com.
