KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Knox County Sheriff’s Office captured a burglary suspect after his car crashed into a light post on Monday afternoon.
Keith Richard Kirkland, 33, of Knoxville is wanted for two armed robberies in Knox County in the past week. He is also wanted for multiple armed robberies in Knoxville and Clinton.
The sheriff’s office said they were able to tie Kirkland to the robberies through his 2005 white Chevy Equinox. Shortly after noon, officers said they spotted Kirkland driving with a woman in the 5300 block of Central Avenue Pike.
Officers said they attempted to stop Kirkland, but he drove away leading officers on a pursuit that ended on Central Avenue Pike at Irwin when his car hit a pole. Deputies said Kirkland and the woman ran off, but they were able to arrest them.
Kirkland is a suspect in an armed robbery a Pilot at 1914 East Raccoon Valley on October 22, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies said he is also a suspect in a robbery at the Dollar General at 1923 Raccoon Valley Road on October 23. In both cases he demanded beer and cigarettes.
Deputies said Kirkland’s criminal history includes conviction for robbery and multiple arrests.
