KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Belk Stores at Knoxville West Town Mall are hosting their annual sale for Junior League of Knoxville.

Money from the event helps give mini-grants to Knox County teachers for innovative classroom projects. The grants are available to all certified Knox County school teachers and range from $50 to $500.

In 2014, Junior League of Knoxville awarded more than $15,000 to Knox County teachers to fund 36 classroom projects. One project, titled “Microscopes, Messes and Me,” provided a high school class of special needs students with an LCD digital microscope, a variety of slide sets and multiple science discovery kits, creating a hands-on science center. Another project allowed 50 high school juniors and seniors to have an interactive experience with the “Science of Grass at Neyland Stadium,” learning about grasses, soil, water and pests and their impact on the environment. They then took a tour of Neyland Stadium to apply the lessons learned.

The Belk “Exclusive Evening of Fashion and Fun” sale is October 30 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at both Belk stores in West Town Mall. Tickets for the event are $25 and can be purchased at the door or a online.

Tickets include 20 to 25 percent off most items in the store, a $5 charity event card and $5 discount on your first purchase. There will also be catering provided by Rosa’s Catering, a wine wall and whiskey wall, grab bags, tea, beer and wine and a photo booth.
