MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – Authorities are searching for an American Red Cross trailer was stolen from a parking lot on the Middle Tennessee State University campus.

The theft occurred on Sept. 2 around 11 p.m. in a lot on MTSU Boulevard on the east side of campus.

MTSU officials said two people in a full-sized, dark-colored pickup truck with what appears to be a spare tire on its rear driver’s side was seen on surveillance pulling away with the trailer full of disaster relief supplies.

“The supplies the trailer contained are used to set up an emergency shelter when our community needs it,” said MTSU Crime Stoppers Board member Travis Smith. “There were 167 olive green cots with aluminum frames, two shelter kit tubs, a small 1200 watt two stroke generator, along with other items in this trailer. These supplies can make all the difference in the world when there is a disaster.”

The trailer is described as 6 feet by 12 feet, white 2010 Homestead Car enclosed tandem trailer. It used to have American Red Cross Logos on it and, even though they have been removed, one can still see where they once were.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-893-STOP.
