Knoxville Museum of Art, Pat Summitt Foundation program on art and the brain

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Knoxville Museum of Art and the Pat Summitt Foundation are teaming up for a special program on art and the brain.

“Inside Out: Art and the Brain” will be held on Tuesday, October 25, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Knoxville Museum of Art’s Ann and Steve Bailey Hall. Guests will hear a presentation by Monica Crane, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of Research for The University of Tennessee Medical Center Cole Neuroscience Center, as well as a presentation by Stephen Wicks, the Barbara W. and Bernard E. Bernstein Curator of the Knoxville Museum of Art.

“Studying the healthy brain perceiving art helps us understand the precarious nature of our visual reality. The artist is the neuroscientist unlocking the secrets of the visual brain,” said Dr. Crane.

Hors d’oeuveres will be served and there will be a cash bar. Admission is free, but guests are asked to pre-register online or by calling Kate Faulkner at (865) 525-6101, ext. 246.
