Inmates in custody after escaping detention center in Knox County, Kentucky

BARBOURVILLE (WATE) – Two inmates are now in police custody after escaping a detention center in Knox County, Kentucky Friday.

John Gray, 29, and Tommy Witt, 42, escaped while a food truck was being unloaded, according to the report.

Gray was found Friday morning around 4:45 a.m and was transported to the Knox County Detention Center. Gray faces charges for burglary between $500-$10,000.

Witt turned himself in Saturday. He faces charges for contempt of court/slander.

Investigators say the two are considered nonviolent.
