No students hurt in Oak Ridge school bus crash

OAK RIDGE (WATE) – No students were injured when a driver ran a red light and crashed into an Oak Ridge school bus Wednesday afternoon.

City spokesperson Sarah Self says the crash happened just after noon at the intersection of Oak Ridge Turnpike and Georgia Avenue. The Oak Ridge Police Department says the driver of a Volkswagen sedan ran the red light, causing the crash.

Three children were on the bus but neither they nor the driver were hurt. The driver of the sedan was taken to UT Medical Center for minor injuries and released. Charges are pending.

The Oak Ridge Police Department is continuing their investigation.
