ROGERSVILLE (WJHL) – A woman charged in the murder of her niece will have her case heard by a Hawkins County grand jury.

Beth Manis faces a charge of first-degree murder. Investigators said Manis and her niece, Brittany Murray, 23, had a series of heated text messages that led up to the crime.

The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office said Murray went to her aunt’s home on Carter’s Valley Road on the night of Oct. 1.
