UPDATE Tuesday evening:
Tennessee Department of Transportation said smoke was causing visibility issues on Interstate 40 Tuesday afternoon and a lane was closed for a time.
ROCKWOOD (WATE) – Crews in Roane County are working to put out a brush fire that began near Interstate 40 Monday night.
Tennessee Division of Forestry spokesman Nathan Waters says the fire is currently burning on TWRA land near Airport Road. He says the fire was cut off at its head and is not dangerous at this time.
The fire is burning 10 to 15 acres and is only about three acres wide. No homes are in danger, but Waters says that could change if winds shift.
