KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Two multiple vehicle crashes happened early Monday morning on Interstate 40 and closed lanes for a period of time.
The first crash was reported around 2:24 a.m near mile marker 391. Three tractor trailers were in the crash.
One driver was transported to the hospital for minor injuries. Witnesses tell WATE 6 On Your Side that two of the tractor trailers were stopped on the highway for construction when another vehicle crashed into them.
Two right lanes going eastbound were closed.
There is no word on injuries.
Around 5:42 a.m. another crash was reported near exit 390 (Cherry Street). Knoxville police says all lanes were closed.
All lanes are now open.
