Knoxville man covered in soot arrested for arson after being at the scene of 2 fires

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – Knoxville Fire Department responded to a report of a fire behind E-Z In & Out Liquor Store on Chapman Highway early Saturday morning.

When they arrived they discovered flames and smoke coming from a rear extension of the building. After putting out the fire they determined the back part of the building to be a total loss, with minor damage to the main part of the store.

A short time later, another fire call was made across the street at Kwik Pantry. Witnesses on the scene of that fire identified a man covered in soot who was also seen at the scene of the first fire.
