SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office and the Simpson County Kentucky Sheriff’s Office are on the search for a man wanted for attempted murder of a police officer.

On May 25, Coty Brimm was incarcerated in the Sumner County Jail for driving on a suspended license, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

He was sentenced to serve 11 months and 29 days.

On June 30, Brimm was granted furlough for treatment at Lighthouse Safe Harbor in Memphis. He left treatment on Aug. 5 because the facility did not fit his needs.

One day after leaving treatment, the Simpson County Kentucky Sheriff’s Office attempted to pull Brimm over for a traffic violation but he reportedly took off and officers gave chase.

During the pursuit, Brimm struck a police car multiple times with his car before eventually crashing, injuring himself and two others.

Brimm was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by LifeFlight, where he received treatment.

The Simpson County Kentucky Sheriff’s Office says he was released from the hospital before warrants were in place.

Brimm is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office at 615-452-2616 or the Simpson County Office at 270-586-7425, or your local law enforcement.
