Man critically injured after being shot in head on TSU campus

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man is fighting for his life after he was shot in the head early Friday morning on the Tennessee State University campus.

Metro police said the victim was shot in front of the Jenkins Dorm on Heiman Street near 23rd Avenue North around 1 a.m.

The 19-year-old was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities told WKRN he is not a student at TSU but was visiting someone at the dorm, which is on property owned by House of God church and leased by the university.

The suspect was described by police as a black man with gold-tipped twist dreadlocks driving a black 2010 Chevy Impala.

Further details were not immediately released. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME.
