KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Vols sophomore wide receiver Preston Williams has been granted release from the Tennessee football program, according to a release from the university’s athletics department.

The reason for his transfer is not yet known, nor is his destination, but student athletes have become much quicker to transfer in recent years if they aren’t getting the playing time they want.

The former five-star recruit from Georgia reeled in five catches against Appalachian State to star the year, but has had just four catches since.

The news comes just days after Danny O’Brien was dismissed from the team for an undisclosed violation.
