Knoxville Opera kicks off season with ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ at Tennessee Theatre

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Knoxville Opera is kicking off its 2016-17 season with a production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s classic “The Pirates of Penzance” at the Tennessee Theatre.

The show, which was last performed at the Tennessee Theatre in 2010, includes many of the duo’s most famous songs including “I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General.” The show is filled with Knoxville Opera veterans including Sean Anderson and Joshua Kohl. Making their Knoxville Opera debuts are Canadian coloratura soprano Claire Coolen and mezzosoprano Jenni Bank.

The show will be directed by internationally acclaimed Canadian director Brian Deedrick.
