KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Knoxville dignitaries and media personalities helped raise a record $93,350 for United Way of Greater Knoxville as part of the 24th annual Pilot Celebrity Pumpers.
During the event last Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Pilot donated five cents of every gallon of gasoline sold and 10 cents of every dollar spent inside Pilot convenience stores to United Way.
Local celebrities pumped gas at different Pilot stations, including Mayor Madeline Rogero, Mayor Tim Burchett, Police Chief David Rausch, Lady Vols Coach Holly Warlick, and a host of personalities from local TV and radio stations. Representing WATE 6 On Your Side on Tuesday will be Don Dare, Ryan O’Donnell, Bo Williams, Marshall Hughes, and the entire WATE 6 On Your Side Storm Team.
Last year’s event raised $90,400 for United Way and featured 90 celebrity pumpers.
